Skywatch Friday - Evergreen Lake at Sunrise

This week's Skywatch Friday post features one of my favorite spots in the whole world - Evergreen Lake, Evergreen Colorado. Just check out the breathtaking shots below to know why this place rates so high on my list.

I took these shots one morning shortly after it had first snowed out here. I find frost completely fascinating. The way it covers one leaf in a light shiny blanket. While, in another form, it's all spiky and sharp, pinning yet another leaf to my windshield. Frost is a contradiction.

Remnants of Beauty

Part of my attempt to explore more of Hyalite Canyon led me to go hiking on Blackmore Trail. One end of the trail ends in the parking lot for Hyalite Reservoir. Most of the trail winds back in through the wilderness right before you come to the reservoir. I didn't have time to explore all of it as there are many tangents to this trail, and I wanted to stay on the main one so that I would not get lost. Even so, I was able to find plenty of opportunities to photograph fall in it's glory. This included some harebells that were in full bloom just to add a dash of color to contrast with all the oranges and browns.

More From Moser Creek

This Fall on Moser Creek Trail

Last fall I got the chance to hike along Moser Creek Trail. I wasn't quite sure what I would find as I had never explored this section of Hyalite Canyon before. I am glad I did because the trail was full of exquisite beauty.

Sundays in My City - Burke Park

Sundays in My City is hosted by Unknown Mami. Stop by and check out other cities from around the world.

Due to the huge amount of snowfall we received last week, the guys decided to go sledding today. I like to tag along and hike around the area. Last year, I spent a good amount of time exploring the nearby cemetary. This year, I'll be spending more time on the trails near Burke Park. The first couple of shots were taken on Boyd Trail which goes along the ridge at the top of the park. The last one was taken in my old haunt (pun intended) - Sunset Hills Cemetery.

One Word Wednesday - Stuffed Bear Ornament

One Word Wednesday was created by Jillsy Girl and is being hosted by Sally G. for one more week. Check it out and add your own twist to the word - Stuffed.

I have to admit with the holiday season upon me I have been crazy busy, so I took the easy way out with this week's word and posted a photo of our beanie baby bear ornament.
