Half Frozen

When I came home the other day, I found these leaves caught between the freeze and the thaw. And while they are in limbo, I think that this state of existence makes for some of the most interesting and beautiful photography.

I guess being frozen can really look cool ;-)

Ellen - Thank you for the kind comment. I really don't tend to notice how cold it is when I've got my camera with me. Today I ran out into the snow to get pictures of a peregrine falcon. I had tennis shoes on. Hopefully, I don't catch a cold.

Anyes - Thank you for the kind words. Therein lies the paradox. Most things do look cool when frozen. Winter around here can be very beautiful, but it is also cold. Today I was lamenting the fact that while I love to photograph what I call snow dunes, the thing that shapes them is the wind which only makes it that much colder outside.

Unknown Mami - thank you for the kind comment. Today was really pretty, but really cold due to the wind. So I shot from the inside out. I should have a couple of good shots for tomorrow's Sundays in My City post.

Beautiful shots. It's winter in Finland and snow carpet brings more light to daytime. Otherwise it's really dark...till the end of December.
Have a good week ahead!

JoAnna - I hope it warms up, too. We were going to go sledding the other day and noticed it was -.5. It's been -5 in the mornings here. And the high yesterday was a whopping 6 degrees F. The plus side, at my job, we don't go outside for recess on those days. Nice to be in where it's warm.

Arabesque - Thank you for the kind comments. I liked how the first shot looked transparent in a way and then just part of the leaf was still above ice.

Laura - I'm glad that I can provide you with an ice fix. Better to enjoy it from afar. At the rate this winter is going, I don't know when I'll get out again. It's pretty, but it is cold. Might try tomorrow really quick. It just snowed today so the world will have that fresh snow fall look to it.

Se'Lah - You're welcome. I always enjoy reading your posts. They ground me and remind me to slow up and enjoy life. I am well, but frozen when I go out.

BLOGitse - It gets dark here, too, but we still have light days. I never thought about how snow would add light. That's pretty cool.

Barbara - Thank you for the kind comment. I wish it would warm up so I could get some more awesome shots of winter around here.
